President Gül paid a visit to the Beijing office of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation's (TRT) international news channel, TRT Türk. On Thursday, June 25, Mr. Gül visited the Beijing Olympic Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, which was the venue of 2008 Olympic Games, and the Old Summer Palace, which dates back to 12th century, before attending a working lunch with Chinese businessmen.
Afterwards, Mr. Gül was received by his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao with full military honours at the National People's Congress in the capital city of Beijing. Following the ceremony, Mr. Gül and Mr. Jintao had a private meeting and then chaired their respective delegations during the talks between the two countries. Following the talks, Mr. Gül and Mr. Jintao attended the ceremony for the signing of the agreements made between their two countries.
In the evening, the President of the People's Republic of China Jintao gave an official dinner in Mr. Gül’s honour.
On Friday, June 26, Mr. Gül attended a meeting of the Turkey-China Business Forum, and met up with officials from the Beijing office of the European Union Chamber of Commerce, of which the Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSİAD) is a member. He also met with Wu Bangguo, the Speaker of the National People's Congress, and received Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. Having completed his talks in Beijing, Mr. Gül then travelled to the city of Xi'an.
