President Abdullah Gül received a delegation of the Friends of Turkey Groups in the French National Parliament and the French Senate at the Çankaya Presidential Palace.
Accentuating that Turkish-French frendship and alliance can be traced back centuries, President Gül pointed to his French counterpart’s state visit to Turkey, which was the first such visit in 22 years, as that which has opened a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries. The President recalled that he and President Hollande had agreed to further boost the existing cooperation between Turkey and France in all areas on the basis of mutual benefits.
President Gül further mentioned his talks with the French President during the Nuclear Security Summit held in the Hague, adding that they had once again reaffirmed their wish to leave the problems of the past behind and to carry further Turkish-French collaboration.
The Vice Chair of the Turkey’s Friends Group at the French Senate, Philippe Madrelle said they love Turkey very much and evinced their pleasure to be visiting the country, adding that there are 35 senators among the Friends of Turkey Group who are making active contributions to the activities to boost the bilateral relations between the two countries.
