First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül accompanied President Abdullah Gül on his official visit to Poland at the invitation of President Bronislav Komorowski from June 5-7, 2011.

After the official welcoming ceremony at the Belvedere Palace, the two First Ladies conducted a bilateral talk for a while during which Mrs. Anna Komorowska said she closely follows the Education Enables Campaign under Mrs. Gül’s patronage. They later enjoyed the beauty of the Belvedere Palace’s garden.

The First Ladies, afterwards, explored the Palace of Culture and Science adorned with a 230-meter tall clock tower which is one of Warsaw’s symbols established by Soviet leader Stalin to demonstrate the friendship between the Soviets and the Polish people. Mrs. Gül and Mrs. Komorowska then enjoyed the panoramic view of Warsaw from the terrace.

Proceeding to the Palace of Youth on the fourth floor of the Palace of Culture and Science, she was welcomed with flowers by a group of Polish children. The First Ladies later watched the music and dance performance by the children at the palace which offers 46 different courses such as painting, music and ballet.

Further visiting a painting exhibition made by children, Mrs. Gül and Mrs. Komorowska were presented a painting. The First Ladies, presenting books and toys to the children, later had a memoir photo taken with them.

President Gül and the First Lady, in the evening, attended the official dinner hosted by their Polish counterparts.

They returned to Turkey on June 7 after completing their programs.
